FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do Tallinn Small Group Tours begin?
Our guide and driver will meet you right outside the cruise terminal exit gate, which is located approx. 300 meters/0.2 miles of walking from the ship. The cruise terminal exit gate is the meeting point for the independant operators (only cruise line shore excursions start at the pier).

How will I recognize the tour guide at the meeting point?
The tour guide will be waiting for you holding a sign with „Tallinn Small Group Tours“ written on it.
She will arrive to the meeting point 20 minutes before the tour departure.

My cruise ship is scheduled to arrive at 9am. The Tour Confirmation/Voucher says the tour is scheduled to start at 10am. What happens if the ship arrives later than initially planned?
The tour departure time is subject to change should the vessel’s arrival time be delayed more than 20 minutes.  An example: if the ship arrives at 9:45 (instead of 9am), the tour will depart at 10:45 (instead of 10am).

What is the difference between you and other tour operators?
-We take maximum 12 people per tour. (Most tour operators offer small group tours with 16-24  people).
– We aim at showing our guests around the way we would with a friend from out of town. Our tours are offered in a laid-back informal but informative manner.
– It seems we’re pretty good at what we do: while Tallinn Small Group Tours is our new initiative started this year (2019) and there is no feedback yet, we´ve received fantastic feedback for another „set-up“, a tour operator Saku Travel- Tallinn Private Tours. Some of the reviews (130+) are on Tripadvisor: Saku Travel-Tallinn Private Tours.

Who will be our tour guide?
One of our team members: Tiiu, Katrin, Li, Kristel, Hõbe or Maarja.

Will the tour guide also be our driver?
No. You will have a tour guide and a driver. Your guide will accompany you at each stop, while the minibus and driver wait for your return. The length of the driving portion/the bus usage is given in the tour itinerary.

What kind of vehicle can we expect?
The type and size of the vehicle depends on the number of people signed up for the tour.
1-4 guests will ride in a black Mercedes Viano minivan or Mercedes V-class minivan;  5-12 guests in a minibus (Mercedes Sprinter, Iveco Daily or Ford Transit). All of our vehicles are climate controlled for your comfort.

How much walking will we do?
Quite a lot. The distance depends on which tour you choose. The total walking distances:
„Medieval & Vibrant Tallinn“:  2.4 km/ 1.5 miles
„Tranquil & Picturesque Tallinn“:  3.2 km/ 2 miles
„Rejuvenated & Inspirational Tallinn“: 4 km/ 2.5 miles

I would like to join the same tour group my friends have signed up. Is it possible?
Yes it is- as long as we have the availability. Please complete the request form which you will find under the tour description. Write to „Your Message“ field that you would like to be added to the same group with your friend (s) and give us his/her name.

I´m using a mobility walking aid/wheelchair, and I´m travelling with a personal assistant. Are your Tallinn Small Group Tours appropriate for me?
No, unfortunately not. Half of each tour is over cobblestone surfaces. The cobblestones in Tallinn Old Town look like on the photo above. We recommend you to check out our sister company „Saku Travel- Tallinn Private Tours“ (website: sakutravel.ee) and book a private tour adjusted for people with mobility disabilities.

What happens if we have booked and paid for the tour, but our travel plans change (at short notice)?
Our terms and conditions have full details of our refund policy.

Are your Tallinn Small Group Tours suitable for children?
We suggest tour content is suitable for ages 14 and up, and is most likely to engage teens with an interest in history and social issues. If travelling with younger children, please consider booking a private tour.

We will visit Tallinn on a ferry from Helsinki/Stockolm, not on a cruise ship. Can we still join one of your Tallinn Small Group Tours?
Regular ferries from Helsinki and Stockholm arrive to terminal A (Viking Line and Eckerö ferries), and terminal D (Tallink Silja ferries). Thus, our Tallinn Small Group Tours are not suitable for you. We recommend to book a private tour, please have a look at:  sakutravel.ee.
